Things to put together
Whether you give birth at home or in the hospital, you must have the following things ready at home:
Maternity package containing:
10 fiber mats (or 2 maternity mattresses and 5 fiber mats)
1 sterile umbilical clamp
2 boxes of sterile gauze
10 pieces large mesh 10 × 10 cm
small bottle of alcohol 70%
3 packs maternity towels
1 pack of 100 grams cotton zigzag
net pants
waterproof mattress
thermometer for rectal use (no ear thermometer)
If you give birth at home then you must also have the following:
2 rubbish bags
2 buckets
2 jars
soap dispenser with liquid soap
emergency light
bed protection so that the whole mattress is covered (e.g. foil, often in the maternity package, but also available at D-I-Y shops)
bed pan (on loan at home care)
bed raisers (on loan from home care) or four crates for 1.5 liter bottles
at least five cloth diapers (hydrophilic)
rectal thermometer
Ensure that from 37 weeks your ‘hospital bag’ is ready containing:
your pregnancy card
insurance
baby clothes, including 2 cotton baby hats
clothing for yourself, including nice warm socks
money or smart card for the parking
car seat
toiletries
photographs or film unit, charged batteries
energy-rich food and drink
if necessary, glasses or lenses
do not forget to take your house keys with you
